European Council of Academies of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering (Euro-CASE)

Euro-CASE, the European Council of Academies of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering, is an independent nonprofit organisation of National Academies of Engineering, Applied Sciences and Technologies from 23 European countries. acatech is one of Euro-CASE’s member academies. Through its member academies, Euro‐CASE has access to an interdisciplinary network of roughly 6000 experts from science and business. acatech Vice President Reinhard F. Hüttl has been President of Euro-CASE since May 2013. In this role, he is being supported by the staff members of the acatech Brussels Office.

Euro-CASE acts as an independent scientific partner of the European Institutions and national governments. The non-profit organisation aims at developing solutions to tackle global societal challenges and at providing evidence-based advice for political decision-making.

The European umbrella organisation focuses particularly on topics related to innovation and energy policy. During internal platform meetings and public workshops, representatives of the national academies convene regularly to discuss current topics in an interdisciplinary manner. The results are published in Euro-CASE position and discussion papers. The publications are presented to the interested public at the Euro-CASE Annual Conferences that are alternately organised by the Euro-CASE member academies.

Together with the National Academy of Engineering (NAE, USA), Euro-CASE is also organising the annual “EU-US Frontiers of Engineering“ symposium. It offers outstanding young engineers from the EU and the US the opportunity to exchange views on cutting-edge developments and interact across disciplines.
