Description

 

acatech published a project study entitled "Mobility 2020. Perspectives for tomorrow's traffic" in 2006. The study came to the conclusion that an increase in passenger and freight transportation up to 2020 will have a particularly large impact on urban centres, which are the heart of economic development and individual mobility.

 

The new acatech project therefore analyses the nature of traffic increase in urban centres and the options for creating more mobility, and will culminate in recommendations for action by the end of 2009. These will address not only traffic management and vehicle engineering, but also intermodal mobility forms that take into account fundamental changes in demographics, purchasing power, mobility costs, etc.
