Description
An acatech expert committee, under the direction of Dr. Hans-Peter Wiendahl and Dr. Jürgen Gausemeier, is currently working on an expert opinion that will look into prospects for maintaining and promoting value added and production in Germany.
At the core of the project is the question of how value added must be organised and pursued in Germany to ensure that German industry and German society – according to the causal chain where prosperity requires employment, which requires innovation, which in turn requires education – continue to be on the winning side of globalisation. A society that is open to innovation and change has been identified as a basic precondition. Also required are enterprises with structures and operations that are agile, adaptive and anticipatory in nature.
The objective of the expert committee is to develop a guideline for sustainable, successful value added in Germany and to identify current trends and conceivable development scenarios for value added and production in Germany as a high-wage location. It will also define fields of action that will steer production in Germany in an economical, ecological and socially sustainable direction.
The results of the project will be published in the "acatech states its position" series.
