Description
The materials topical network discusses aspects of public perception, education and research in this field. This discourse reveals gaps in the chain leading from the development of materials to their application in products. What are the deficits in this sector? What avenues can be suggested to overcome them?
In the summer of 2009, this topical network merged with the materials innovation committee that was launched in 2005 by E. Schulz (Chairman of the Executive Board at ThyssenKrupp AG) as part of the "Partners for Innovation" initiative of Chancellor G. Schröder. The fusion of the topical network with the committee bundles energies to initiate new projects in this field and offers politics an independent and expert point of contact.
