While Blockchain started as a disruptive technology in FinTech and Cryptocurrencies, the technology proved successful in a variety of applications and processes. It fundamentally challenged traditional modes of operation not only in financial systems, but also in fields such as energy markets, supply chain management and public administration. Only recently, Blockchain aficionados have claimed its relevance for democratic practices and national security.
In this interdisciplinary 2-day workcamp for students, we invite students to discuss potential blockchain applications in connection with social and political issues. In groups of five and under the guidance of renown experts, the students will develop interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary issues that can be improved via digitized technology.
The student group with the most promising blockchain project will win a travel stipend to Silicon Valley and a potential meeting with highranking officials from Silicon Valley companies.
To provide a framework for the camp, there will be a couple of breakout sessions with renowned experts on the distinctive field, who will present their own assessment of the potential of Blockchain in the diverse fields of action and who will be available for review and input on the various projects the students develop.
The event will be an excellent opportunity to get in touch with peers and experts from a variety of academic and technological fields to develop interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary
issues that can be improved via digitized technology.
The project pitch will be held on a separate date.
